Our Analysis of This Week’s Express Entry Draw

This week marks the first Trades Occupation Express Entry draw for 2024 and the second draw in July. Given that the tie-breaking rule dates back to July 16, 2023, it suggests that many trades applicants in the Express Entry pool have this CRS score. Consequently, applicants who entered the pool after July 16 last year may face disappointment due to the tie-breaking rule.

Since May 1, 2024, there have been five draws: two in May, one in June, and this latest one. Out of these five draws, three were Provincial Nominee Program  rounds, and one was a Canadian Experience Class  round. This is the first category-based draw since April, which is surprising given an earlier IRCC internal memo that indicated a focus on category-based draws this year.
