Why Is the CRS Cutoff So High?
This is because candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded 600 extra points, which boosts their CRS score. That’s why PNP draws usually have higher cutoffs.
Compared to earlier draws in March 2025 and December 2024, this score is still quite competitive.
What If Your Score Is Below 706?
If your CRS score is currently below the cutoff, don’t worry. You can:
- Improve your profile (e.g., language test, education, or experience)
- Try to get a provincial nomination for an extra 600 points
How Do Express Entry Draws Work?
To better understand how you can qualify, here’s how the Express Entry system works:
- IRCC Decides the Draw Type: It could be general, program-specific, or category-based.
- Set a Quota: IRCC decides how many candidates to invite.
- Candidates Are Ranked: Based on CRS scores.
- ITAs Are Issued: Top candidates receive invitations to apply for PR.
What Affects the Draws?
Several factors influence when and how many people are invited:
- Canada’s immigration targets
- Labour market needs
- The number of candidates in the pool
- Type of draw
Got an ITA? Here’s What to Do Next
If you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), you’ll have 60 days to submit your full PR application.
Here’s Your Checklist:
- Collect documents (education, experience, language scores, police clearance)
- Pay the application fee (CAD $1,525 per adult)
- Submit your application online
- Wait for processing (usually within 6 months)
Common Mistakes to Avoid
To increase your chances, avoid these errors:
- Incomplete profiles (can lower your score or lead to rejection)
- Ignoring PNP opportunities
- Poor or missing documents
- Not updating your profile with new qualifications
Your Path to Canadian PR in 2025
Express Entry is one of the best ways for skilled workers to become permanent residents in Canada. By improving your profile, understanding how the system works, and staying proactive, you can increase your chances of getting selected.
What Is Express Entry?
Express Entry is Canada’s main system for skilled immigration. It manages three major programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) – For people with foreign work experience
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – For those who have worked in Canada
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) – For skilled trades professionals
Applicants are ranked using a CRS score, and those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residency in regular draws.
