Canada Accepts Applications from H-1B Visa Family Members for Open Work Permits

The Canadian government has announced a new work permit for H-1B visa holders, effective July 16th, 2023. If you’re currently holding an H-1B visa in the U.S., you might be eligible to work in Canada. Moreover, based on your qualifications, you could potentially become a permanent resident.

Furthermore, Canada has introduced a special work permit stream specifically for 10,000 U.S. H-1B visa holders. This initiative by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) brings optimism for H-1B visa holders, offering them enhanced security and superior long-term prospects in Canada compared to the United States.

Relatives of those applying for H-1B visas can also apply to visit, work, or study in Canada. For open work permit applications, the deadline is September 27, 2024. There’s no deadline for visitor or student applications.

Requirements for Canada Open Work Permit for H-1B

• Valid passport for more than 03 years
• Valid H1B authorization documents/ Proof of H1b status
• Digital photograph
• Marriage & Birth certificate
• Transcripts and degree certificates
• Updated CV
• US PCC and PCC, where the applicant has lived for more than six months in recent 10 years, are not required at the time of application.
• Prepare 10 years of personal and address history without any gaps.
• Family information like birth date, email IDs, and current address of parents, and siblings.
