Month-end Immigration Updates for March - What did you miss?

The month of March witnessed visible impacts on the immigration industry with the beginning of large-scale vaccination drives globally. Here are the major happenings from the month of March 2021.

Major Update for Post Graduate Work Permit

March 10 – Temporary policy has been announced for the eligibility for PGWP. Students who were either enrolled into or were a part of an already studying course between March 2020 and the Fall 2021 semester will be eligible for the PGWP even if they complete their entire course or a part of it online.

Covid updates on immigration

March 08 – Amendments have been made to the dates for holding the PNP applications where the applicants have lost their job because of the pandemic. 

March 31 – Additions to conditions relating to the temporary resident’s entry have been made specifying that foreign nationals may not be able to travel before the expiration of their medical examination.

March 31 – Instructions have been provided for exempting (fully or partially) applicants from providing biometric information

Express Entry Draws

March 08 – IRCC issued ITAs to 671 applicants under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream with the lowest CRS score of 739. 

March 17 – IRCC issued ITAs to 183 applicants under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream with the lowest CRS score of 682.

March 18 – IRCC issued ITAs to 5000 applicants under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream with the lowest CRS score of 449.

March 31 – IRCC issued ITAs to 284 applicants under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream with the lowest CRS score of 778.

OINP Updates

March 2 – OINP issued targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates qualifying under the Human Capital Priorities stream with CRS cut-off range 463-467.

March 3 – OINP issued targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates qualifying under the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream with CRS cut-off range 455-467. 

March 15 – Ontario announced their introduction of 5 new streams moving into the Expression of Interest system under OINP. It is one of the major changes applied to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.  

March 17 – OINP issued a notice regarding the appointment of a representative.  

March 19 – OINP shared the report putting light on their performance during 2020 and their future plans.

Provincial Updates

March 2 – Alberta issued 200 Notifications of Interest under their PNP program with a minimum CRS score of 301.

March 16 – BC issued invitations to 428 applicants for Provincial Nomination under multiple streams and conducted another draw issuing 78 invitations specifically for NOC 0621 and 0631.

March 25 – Manitoba issued an Expression of Interest to 285 applicants under Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream with the lowest score of 423 points.
