One More Language Test is open for Canadian Permanent Resident Aspirants

PTE Core is now officially accepted by IRCC for PR as a Designated Language Testing Agency.

Pearson Test of English was only accepted only by DHA (Department of Home Affairs) in Australia for assessing the English Language ability of an applicant for a Permanent Residency Application.

But understanding the facts of adding one more designated language testing agency in assessing the language ability of an Applicant, IRCC(Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) have added Pearson Test of English as an official Designated Language Testing Agency for all Economic permanent residence Applicants w.e.f. from January 30^th, 2023.

IRCC assesses applicants’ language abilities and skills in two languages using approved designated agencies and associated language tests.

The English Languages accepted by IRCC for all the Economic Permanent Residence Applications are CELPIP (General), IELTS (General) and PTE (Core) as on 30^th January 2024.

Pearson Test English had initially two exams which was known as PTE Academic and UKVI, the applicants/aspirants used to give this test for their Abroad Dreams in terms of Study or Work or Immigration for the accepted countries etc.

Pearson Test has introduced a new exam known as PTE Core; this exam is for those applicants/aspirants who wish to migrate to Canada as a Permanent Resident.

• Economic permanent residence applicants may only provide PTE Core test results as proof of language proficiency.
• PTE Core is Recognized by the Canadian government (IRCC) for migration, work, or citizenship visas.
• PTE Core will be administered by Pearson Canada Inc.
• PTE Core is a Two-Hour Computer-based English Proficiency Test.
• PTE Core Consists of 4 Modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking
• PTE Core Results in 2 working days.
• PTE Academic is Computer Based Test taken physically in a Test Centre.
• Listening about 30 Minutes
• Reading about 30 Minutes

The Language Test is evaluating the ability of:

• writing
• reading
• listening
• speaking

IRCC determines and measures the English Language Ability by CLB Levels (Canadian Language Benchmarks) ranges from CLB 4 to CLB 10. Where the eligibility for Permanent Residency pathway begins from CLB 5 till CLB 10.

An Applicant’s Score in individual modules (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) will measure their CLB Level and accordingly eligibility for Permanent Residency Pathway for Canada.

Pearson Test of English has a network of 400+ test centres in 117 countries.

The Examination fees varies in available countries and can be checked online with their official website.
