How the Expression of Interest Works
The EOI system makes Prince Edward Island’s immigration stream more efficient and fair by selecting candidates who match the province’s economic and social needs. Instead of first-come, first-served, it allows you to create a profile showcasing your skills, experience, and adaptability.
consult NowSubmit your EOI
Start by completing an EOI profile through the PEI Office of Immigration portal with your skills, education, and experience
Stay in the Pool
Once submitted, your profile remains active for six months. During this time, it will be considered in multiple draws.
Receive an ITA
If your profile meets the criteria for a particular draw, you’ll receive an ITA to formally apply for the PEI PNP.
Submit Application
After receiving an ITA, submit all required documents within the specified timeframe to secure your nomination.

Norms & FAQs
What is Prince Edward Island Immigration Program ?
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is a program that allows Prince Edward Island to nominate immigrants to fill the economic and labour market needs of the province.
Does Prince Edward Island have an immigration stream aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system?
Yes, PEI has an immigration stream aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system, also referred to as an enhanced Express Entry stream. This stream is called PEI PNP Express Entry (see question 6 for more information). By receiving an enhanced provincial nomination from this stream, candidates receive an extra 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, resulting in an Invitation To Apply (ITA) for permanent residence being issued at a subsequent draw from the Express Entry pool.
How does the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program work?
Applying to the PEI PNP is a two-step process. Candidates interested in living and working permanently in Prince Edward Island should first review the different PEI PNP streams to determine if they are eligible:
- PEI Business Impact Category
- PEI Labour Impact Category
- PEI PNP Express Entry
Step 1: Once a complete application is submitted along with all supporting documentation, the processing time for eligible applications can be up to three months or more.
Step 2: Apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC, formerly CIC) for a permanent resident visa within six months of receiving your nominee certificate. Applicants, along with their spouse/common-law partner and dependents, if applicable, must meet all requirements for medical, security and criminal admissibility. IRCC has the final authority to issue a permanent resident visa.{/slide}
What is the Business Impact Category?
The province accepts expressions of interest under this category from foreign nationals who wish to invest in and actively manage a business in PEI. The category consists of one stream:
- Work Permit Stream
How does the PEI PNP Express Entry stream differ from other PEI PNP streams?
Different streams have different requirements to attract different types of applicants. You may be eligible for more than one stream, but PEI will only issue one nomination per applicant, so you must decide which stream best fits your situation.
Can I include anyone else on my Express Entry application?
You may include yourself, your spouse, and any dependent children (i.e. under 19 years of age). You may not include any other family members, such as siblings, parents, or grandparents
How can I check the status of my PEI Express Entry application?
Enquiries made within 60 calendar days of the submission of the application to the Office of Immigration will not be answered. After 60 days, submit enquiries to expressentry@gov.pe.ca. Be sure to include your file number in the subject line of the e-mail. If you do not have a file number, you do not have an application in process.
