Therefore, improving your language score can directly increase the number of points you receive for this part of your EOI profile.

You Can Also Get Points for Both Languages

Besides English or French proficiency, candidates can also receive points for knowing both of Canada’s official languages.

Candidates receive:

• 10 points for knowledge of both English and French
• 5 points for knowledge of one official language

However, to receive the full 10 points for both languages, candidates must achieve at least CLB 6 in all four language skills in both English and French.

The OWPS considers several factors when ranking candidates.

• Wage
• Work region
• Education
• Work experience
• Earnings history
• Legal status in Canada
• Language ability
