BC Invites Entrepreneurs to Set Up Business in the Province!

This week, British Columbia (BC) took another exciting step to attract global business minds. Through its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), BC issued invitations to qualified entrepreneurs to apply for permanent residency.

Latest Draw Details – April 15, 2025

In its third Base Stream draw of 2025, the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited 5 entrepreneurial candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
The lowest score among those invited was 115.

Who Can Apply?

If you’re an entrepreneur dreaming of starting or buying a business in BC, here’s what you need to qualify:

  1. A minimum score of 115 points on BC’s registration system
  2. Net worth of at least $600,000
  3. CLB 4 or higher in English or French
  4. A personal investment of at least $200,000 into the business
  5. Ownership of at least one-third of the business, or a $1 million equity investment
  6. At least a 2-year post-secondary diploma, or one of the following:
  • 3 years as a business owner-manager
  • 4 years as a senior business manager
  • Or a combo of both roles

Plus, your business must create at least one full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in BC.

What About Smaller Communities?

In addition, BC offers a Regional Entrepreneur Stream for those interested in setting up businesses in smaller towns.

This stream has:

  • Lower net worth requirements
  • A need to visit the community
  • And a support letter from the local area

Important Changes to the BC PNP

However, keep in mind: BC has made major updates to its immigration program.
Some streams have closed, while others are on pause.
In 2025, BC is focusing on:

  • Front-line healthcare workers
  • High-impact entrepreneurs
  • And skilled workers
