Canada Offers $25 Million Scholarships for Indian Students
Canada Announces $25 Million Scholarships for Indian Students
Canada has introduced new education measures to strengthen academic ties with India. The initiative includes up to $25 million in scholarships, new university partnerships, and expanded research collaboration.
The office of Mark Carney shared the announcement, highlighting Canada’s focus on attracting global talent and driving innovation through education.
Scholarship Opportunities for Indian Students
As part of this plan, the University of Toronto will offer scholarships to support over 220 Indian students studying in Canada.
The university will also create around 300 funded research positions. These roles will encourage stronger academic and scientific collaboration between both countries.
Through these efforts, Canada aims to make education more accessible while attracting high-performing students in fields like technology, healthcare, and research.
New Canada–India University Partnerships
In addition, Canada has signed 13 new partnerships between Canadian and Indian universities. These agreements will support multiple initiatives, including:
- Student and faculty exchange programs
- Joint academic and research projects
- Short-term courses and pathway programs
- Collaboration in emerging industries and technologies
Key institutions involved include:
- University of British Columbia
- Simon Fraser University
- Dalhousie University
- Algoma University
- University of Guelph
These partnerships will open more opportunities for Indian students and strengthen academic cooperation between both countries.
Hybrid Campuses and Innovation Hubs
The initiative also introduces three hybrid learning locations in India. These campuses will allow students to connect with Canadian institutions through research, innovation projects, and collaborative learning.
At the same time, Canada will launch two centers of excellence focused on Artificial Intelligence research and development. This step will further connect talent from both nations.
Strengthening Canada–India Education Ties
India remains one of the largest sources of international students in Canada. Indian students contribute significantly to both the education sector and the workforce.
With a strong Indian-origin community already in place, this initiative aims to build long-term academic and professional connections.
Overall, Canada is positioning itself as a top destination for Indian students by combining scholarships, partnerships, and research opportunities.
