More People Want to Move to Canada

You might be surprised by what recent data reveals. Even during the pandemic, interest in Canadian immigration continued to rise instead of slowing down.

According to CIC News, a survey conducted by World Education Services (WES) showed increased interest in immigrating to Canada. In fact, more people expressed interest in June than in April.

What the WES Survey Reveals

WES provides educational credential assessments for candidates applying under economic-class immigration. As a result, they interact with thousands of prospective immigrants every week.

The survey results were clear:

  • 45% of respondents said they were more interested in immigrating to Canada
  • 6% said they were less interested
  • 32% decided to delay their immigration plans

These numbers clearly show that Canada remains a preferred destination despite global uncertainty.

Why Canada Still Attracts Immigrants

The global economy suffered heavily due to the pandemic. However, many respondents believe Canada handled the situation better than their home countries.

Although Canada also faced challenges, its recovery showed positive signs. A recent Labour Force Survey revealed that 55% of jobs lost due to COVID-19 were recovered by July.

Economic Impact: Canada vs Home Countries

In June, 58% of respondents felt the pandemic negatively affected Canada’s economy. Meanwhile, 80% believed their home countries suffered more severe economic damage.

Overall, many people feel Canada remains more stable and resilient compared to other nations. This perception continues to drive immigration interest.

Immigration’s Role in Canada’s Recovery

Immigrants play a critical role in rebuilding Canada’s economy. The country currently faces:

  • An aging population
  • Higher retirement rates
  • Low birth rates

These factors create strong opportunities for skilled immigrants.

IRCC’s Support for Newcomers

IRCC has implemented several measures to support immigrants during and after the pandemic. These steps aim to protect newcomers and help them settle successfully.

With the leadership of Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino, Canada has made it clear that immigration will remain a top priority—even in a post-pandemic world.
