BC PNP Held Its Latest Draw on April 3, 2024

British Columbia conducted its newest BC PNP draw on April 3, 2024, issuing a total of 83 invitations to candidates seeking permanent residency. The draw operated in two parts, and several important changes appeared compared to the previous round.

Summary of General Invitations

BC issued 30 invitations across multiple categories, including:

  • Express Entry
  • Skills Immigration
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled

Compared to the March 19 draw, the minimum score increased by 5 to 9 points for most categories. However, the International Graduate category did not experience any score change.

Targeted Invitations for Priority Occupations

BC also issued 53 targeted invitations to specific high-demand professions:

  • 18 invitations for early childhood educators and assistants
  • 10 invitations for construction occupations
  • 25 invitations for healthcare roles

In addition, the minimum score for all three targeted groups rose by 10 points compared to March 19. This increase signals strong demand and growing competition in B.C.’s priority sectors.

How BC Selects Candidates: Invitations to Apply (ITA)

Each BC PNP draw considers several key factors. The province may issue targeted invitations based on:

  • Education level, field of study, and location of studies
  • Eligible B.C. professional designations
  • Language ability
  • Occupation
  • Work experience (duration and skill level)
  • Wage and skill level of the job offer
  • Intent to live and work in a specific B.C. region
  • Strategic priorities that address labour market needs or government pilot programs

These elements guide the province in identifying candidates who can support B.C.’s economic and labour market goals.

How the BC PNP Invitation System Works

The BC PNP selects candidates directly from the registration pool. The program reviews the information provided during registration to rank, assess, and invite the candidates who best meet B.C.’s current needs.

Furthermore, the province can adjust invitations to:

  • Support priority industries
  • Improve regional immigration
  • Advance government-led strategic initiatives

BC also manages the number and frequency of draws to maintain steady processing times and keep them aligned with provincial objectives.
