Economic Mobility Program: Boosting Your Canadian Immigration
How the Economic Mobility Program Helps Your Canadian Immigration
IRCC Minister Sean Fraser has announced that Canada will launch a new immigration track aimed at connecting Canadian employers with qualified refugees and displaced people.
Which path did the government choose to meet the Labour market Impact Assessment
The path will be accessible through the Federal Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP).
The minister made the news in Toronto during a speech in which there were new Immigration plans discussed to meet the labor market shortage. The IRCC website states the new pathway under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) is set to launch this summer.
The new pathway launching this summer will give employers more opportunities to address in-demand jobs such as nurse aids, personal support workers, long-term care aids, software engineers, web designers, mechanical and electrical engineers and technicians, teachers, tourism and hospitality workers, and truck and delivery service drivers.
Over the next few years, Canada is looking to expand the EMPP and welcome 2,000 qualified refugees and displaced persons to fill labour shortages via the EMPP.
What is the new Immigration Plan by IRCC?
According to the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025, IRCC aims to increase the number of new permanent residents welcomed in Canada to 485,000 in 2024 and 500,000 in 2025, up from the current goal of 465,000. In the previous year, Canada had received a total of 437,000 immigrants, while the country’s population experienced a historical growth of over one million individuals due to high immigration, foreign student, and worker admissions.
Canada’s ambitious goals for immigration primarily aim to tackle the nation’s significant labor shortages. Over 100 distinct economic class immigration routes are available in Canada. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which enables regions and territories to select candidates who fulfill their specific economic demands, is the most popular economic class pathway. The Express Entry system is the leading federal pathway.
