What is Express Entry for Canada and how can I apply for it?
Express Entry is an online system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled foreign workers who want to immigrate to Canada. The program is designed to facilitate the selection of candidates who have the skills and experience required to meet Canada’s economic needs and contribute to its society.
To apply for Express Entry, you must first determine your eligibility by meeting the requirements for one of the three federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). You will need to create an online profile with information about your education, language ability, work experience, and other details relevant to your eligibility. You will also need to complete a language test (IELTS or CELPIP for English, or TEF for French) and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to demonstrate that your foreign qualifications are equivalent to Canadian standards.
What happens when you have created an Express Entry Profile?
Once you have created your profile and submitted your Express Entry application, you will be given a score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) which evaluates factors such as age, education, language proficiency, work experience, and other criteria.
If you meet the minimum CRS score required for the specific draw, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. If you receive an ITA, you will need to submit a complete application within the given timeframe and meet all the eligibility requirements to be granted permanent residence in Canada.
