  • In April 2025, BC reported a 50% cut in its annual nomination allocation (now capped at 4,000), funneling priority to health authorities, entrepreneurs, and high-impact workers.
  • The Health Authority stream now accepts only front-line healthcare roles directly—no registration required

The FAQ and tips

What are the basic requirements to apply for the BC PNP?

You need a valid job offer from a BC employer, meet the minimum language requirements, and show the ability to support yourself and your family. Certain categories, like the International Post-Graduate stream, don’t require a job offer.

How long does it take to process a BC PNP application?

On average, it takes about 2–3 months for a BC PNP nomination. Once you receive the nomination, applying for Permanent Residency with IRCC can take additional time.

Can international students apply for the BC PNP?

Yes. Both the International Graduate and International Post-Graduate categories are designed for students who studied in Canada, with a focus on those graduating from BC institutions.

Do employers also need to meet requirements under BC PNP?

Yes. Employers must be eligible BC employers who meet specific standards, such as being established in BC and offering jobs that meet wage and program requirements.

Does getting a BC PNP nomination guarantee Permanent Residency?

A nomination gives you 600 extra CRS points in Express Entry (if eligible) or a direct PR pathway through non-Express Entry streams. While it doesn’t guarantee PR, it almost always leads to an invitation.
