Overview of the October 14 Express Entry Draw

On October 14, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted the third Express Entry draw of the month, specifically for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). In this draw, 345 candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residency.

This draw was selective, as IRCC continues to prioritize candidates with strong provincial nominations. Interestingly, the CRS score cutoff dropped by 77 points compared to the previous PNP-only draw held on September 29.

2. Key Highlights of the Draw

  • Program: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • Date of Draw: October 14, 2025
  • Number of Invitations Issued: 345
  • Lowest CRS Score Invited: 778
  • Tie-Breaking Rule: Candidates who submitted profiles before July 17, 2025, at 19:58:49 UTC were considered in case of a tie.

Furthermore, candidates who received provincial nominations earned an additional 600 CRS points, boosting their chances of selection. Effectively, this means the base CRS score of invited candidates was 178 + 600 points from the provincial nomination.

3. CRS Score Distribution in the Pool

As of October 14, 2025, there were 247,997 candidates in the Express Entry pool. The score distribution shows strong competition, especially above 500 CRS points:

  • 501–600: 25,411 candidates
  • 451–500: 70,641 candidates
  • 401–450: 72,026 candidates
  • 351–400: 52,448 candidates
  • 301–350: 19,496 candidates
  • 0–300: 7,975 candidates

This demonstrates that over 25,000 candidates with CRS above 500 are actively waiting for ITAs, making the competition very high.

4. Significance of This Week’s Draw

This draw follows previous category-based and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws in October, highlighting IRCC’s effort to meet immigration targets for 2025.

While PNP draws favor provincially-nominated candidates, upcoming draws may focus on skilled workers in healthcare, trades, education, or French-speaking streams. Candidates with CRS scores between 450–500 should remain optimistic and keep their profiles updated, as they may be eligible for these category-based draws.

Moreover, candidates can improve their CRS scores by obtaining provincial nominations, upgrading language test results, or gaining additional work experience, which can significantly increase chances of selection.

5. Emerging Pattern of Weekly Draws

Previously, Express Entry draws were held biweekly, but IRCC seems to be switching to a weekly draw schedule. This could mean alternating draws between PNP, CEC, and category-based rounds.

  • If only a PNP draw occurs this week, the next draw may be CEC, followed by category-based rounds.
  • Towards the end of the year, IRCC might slow down draws while planning allocations for 2026 under the next Immigration Levels Plan.

6. Why CRS Scores Are High in PNP Draws

PNP candidates automatically receive 600 additional CRS points from provincial nominations. As a result, the total CRS scores in PNP-only draws are much higher than general draws.

7. Likelihood of More Draws in October 2025

It is highly likely that at least two more draws will occur in October:

  1. A CEC draw
  2. A French-speaking or occupation-based category draw

The exact schedule depends on IRCC’s draw cycle and priorities.

8. Latest Express Entry Draw Details

  • Draw Number: #372
  • Date: October 14, 2025
  • Type of Draw: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • ITAs Issued: 345

This draw emphasizes the importance of provincial pathways in Canada’s immigration system, providing skilled professionals a steady route to permanent residency while contributing to the Canadian economy and communities.
