Canada Holds Third-Largest Express Entry Draw of 2025 for French Speakers

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has once again invited more people to apply for permanent residency through the Express Entry system.
This time, the draw focused on candidates who are fluent in French.

Key Details of the Latest Draw

In this latest round, IRCC issued 6,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to French-speaking candidates.
To be eligible, applicants needed to:

  • Have a minimum CRS score of 416, and
  • Submit their Express Entry profile before 3:27 p.m. (UTC) on September 8, 2025.

Third-Largest Draw of 2025

Interestingly, this draw was the third-largest Express Entry selection held so far in 2025.
Moreover, the first and second-largest draws also targeted French-speaking candidates, which took place on February 19 and March 21, respectively.

Why Focus on French Speakers?

So far, French-language candidates have received the highest number of ITAs — a total of 36,000 invitations this year.
This strong emphasis reflects Canada’s commitment to supporting bilingualism under the Official Languages Act.
In short, IRCC wants to increase the number of French-speaking newcomers, especially outside Quebec.

Draws in October

This was the seventh draw of October, following:

  • A Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on October 28,
  • A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on October 27, and
  • A Healthcare and Social Services draw on October 15.

Total Invitations in 2025

So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 80,485 ITAs through Express Entry.
The department has mainly focused on PNP draws, while also inviting candidates from other categories.
