How it Works ?

Process
Application Process for FSTP Via EE
The Federal Skilled Trades Program starts with creating an Express Entry profile, valid for 12 months. It’s important to enter accurate details about your work experience, language scores, and other eligibility factors. If you meet the minimum criteria and have a competitive CRS score, you may receive an Invitation to Apply during an Express Entry draw. After receiving an ITA, you have 60 days to submit your electronic application for permanent residence (eAPR), along with documents like police clearance, medical exams, and proof of work experience. Most applications are processed within six months, though timelines may vary.

Yes! You can include your spouse/partner and dependent children in your PR application.
How are FSTP applications processed within the Express Entry system?
After submitting an Express Entry profile and meeting FSTP eligibility, the application enters a pool. The IRCC conducts draws and invites those with the highest CRS scores to apply for permanent residence
How can I improve my CRS score for the FSTP?
You can increase your score by improving language test results, gaining more work experience, getting a provincial nomination, or completing additional education.

What are the benefits of immigrating to Canada through the FSTP?
You get permanent resident status, access to healthcare, the right to work anywhere in Canada, and eventually eligibility for citizenship.
What if a trade isn’t explicitly listed in the NOC for FSTP?
The FSTP targets trades under specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER categories. Carefully review the NOC matrix and job descriptions to ensure experience aligns with an eligible trade. Consulting with an immigration expert is recommended in such situations.
Will Express Entry still have other types of draws?
Yes, Express Entry will have three types of draws throughout the year:
- General draws: Invite the top candidates from the pool who qualify for one of the three Express Entry programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
- Program-specific draws: Invite top candidates for a specific program, like the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), where only PNP-eligible candidates get invited.
- Category-based draws: The Minister of Immigration sets categories to meet Canada’s economic needs. Top candidates in those categories will be invited once they’re established.
