Second Round of ITAs to Express Entry Candidates This Week

IRCC held another Express Entry draw this week, issuing 1,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates with strong French-language proficiency. The minimum CRS score for this round was 388, making it one of the more accessible category-based draws.

Earlier this week, on March 24, IRCC invited 1,980 candidates from all Express Entry programs. The minimum CRS score for that draw was 524, which was slightly lower than the previous all-program draw.
Additionally, on March 13, IRCC conducted a category-based draw for transport occupations, inviting 945 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 430.

What Is Category-Based Selection?

Category-based selection allows IRCC to invite candidates from specific occupations or language groups. This approach helps Canada bring in skilled workers who can address immediate labour market needs.
As a result, candidates with in-demand skills—such as healthcare, STEM, transport, agriculture, and French-language ability—often see lower CRS cutoffs in these targeted rounds.

What Happens After You Create an Express Entry Profile?

Once you create your profile, the system evaluates your eligibility and assigns a CRS score. This score reflects your:

• Age
• Education
• Work experience
• Language ability
• Other adaptability factors

If your CRS score meets the cutoff for a particular draw, IRCC may issue you an Invitation to Apply.
After receiving an ITA, you must submit a complete PR application within the deadline and meet all requirements to qualify for permanent residence.
