To apply for a master’s program in Germany:

If you want to study in public university, then you need to learn German language. While if you enroll yourself into any English taught university then learning German is not compulsory.

Many of the public universities are available which provide a free education to all the student, but they teach in Germany and proficiency for Foregien language is required to study over there. While if you enrol in any private institution to learn in English the fees starts from around 10,000 Euros. The living in Germany cost around 600-900 Euros /month.

The new skilled worker law was effective from March 2023, enabling foreign students to work during their studies in Germany. International students can come to Germany before 9 months of starting their studies and work up to 20 hours per week. They can complete language courses in English, German or other language depending on their preference during this time. The new law will also allow students to work from 120 to 140 full days in a year.

The previous law allowed students to come to Germany before 9 months of starting their studies but they were not allowed to work in Germany.

Most universities in Germany accept a study gap of 1 to 2 years and 7 years of study gap is acceptable for pursuing humanities in any German university. However, the acceptable duration of the study gap varies based on universities and the courses taken. Universities usually focus on the applicant’s activities performed during the study gap and how they have improved their skills related to their field.
