Big Change Coming to AIP Applications Starting May 1, 2025
Change Coming to AIP Applications
The Immigration and Population Growth (IPG) Branch is launching a new online system for submitting Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) endorsements. As a result, employers can expect a faster, simpler, and more transparent endorsement process. Moreover, this change aims to reduce confusion and improve overall efficiency.
What’s New in the System?
The new AIP online portal introduces several improvements. First, it offers a more user-friendly interface. Additionally, it works on mobile devices, which allows employers to submit applications on the go.
Furthermore, the system includes smart prompts and reminders. Consequently, employers can reduce errors and avoid incomplete submissions. At the same time, the portal allows better control over user permissions. Therefore, employers can assign roles, such as immigration representatives, within their organization more easily.
How Do Employers Access the New System?
If you already hold AIP designation and plan to submit an endorsement after May 1, you must take a few steps. First, you need to complete an Access Request Form. Then, you must set up your organization in the new AIP Online portal.
However, if you are applying for a new employer designation, the process remains unchanged. For now, you should continue using the current portal for designation applications.
Key Deadlines to Know
It is important to note the upcoming deadlines. The current system will stop accepting endorsement applications after April 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
Nevertheless, if you submit your endorsement application before this deadline, you do not need to resubmit it. Meanwhile, existing designated employers may continue using their designation. However, they must switch to the new portal for all endorsement submissions starting May 1, 2025.
Why Is This Change Happening?
This update forms part of a broader effort to modernize the administration of the Atlantic Immigration Program. Specifically, the new portal runs on the LaMPSS platform, which delivers several advantages.
For example, it processes applications faster and performs more reliably. Additionally, it costs less to maintain. As a result, compared to older methods such as email or mail, the digital system saves time for both employers and government authorities.
In Short: What Employers Need to Do
To summarize, employers should take the following actions:
- If submitting endorsements after May 1, 2025, use the new AIP Online portal
- Complete the Access Request Form to gain portal access
- If applying for a new designation, continue using the current system for now
By preparing early, employers can ensure a smooth transition and avoid delays in AIP endorsement submissions.
