What is the AIM of the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot?

The Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) combines refugee resettlement and economic immigration. It helps skilled refugees Immigrate to Canada through existing economic programs and gives employers in Canada access to a new pool of qualified candidates to fill job openings.

  • A new pathway under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) will begin this summer to help employers hire skilled refugees and other displaced individuals to fill labor shortages.
  • The EMPP aims to pair skilled refugees and displaced individuals with Canadian employers in need of employees for key occupations.
  • The new federal pathway will offer employers opportunities to fill a range of in-demand jobs, including nurse aides, software engineers, teachers, and delivery service drivers.
  • The EMPP provides displaced individuals with a chance to restart their careers and lives with their families in Canada, while contributing to the local economy.
  • The EMPP’s eligibility criteria will become more flexible by allowing other displaced individuals who lack durable solutions and need international protection to apply.

More details about the new federal pathway and eligibility requirements will be available on the IRCC EMPP webpage in the coming weeks.
