Canada has introduced an exciting new pathway to Permanent Residency through Timmins, Ontario. As a result, eligible candidates now have another strong option to settle permanently in Canada.

Timmins is one of the 11 participating rural communities under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP). Through this program, the community actively supports newcomers who are willing to live and work locally, making settlement smoother and more welcoming.

What Is the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)?

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a federal program introduced by IRCC. Its goal is to attract skilled foreign workers to smaller and northern communities across Canada.

  • Youth migration to larger cities

Step 1: Check Federal Eligibility

Step 2: Secure a Job Offer in Timmins

Next, obtain a full-time job offer from an employer in Timmins. The job must fall under an eligible NOC code.

Additionally, your employer must complete and sign the RNIP Offer of Employment Form.

⚠️ Only specific NOC codes qualify. Some occupations are not eligible.

Step 3: Community Assessment by Timmins

If you meet Steps 1 and 2, the Timmins Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) reviews your profile.

TEDC then scores and prioritizes applicants who are most likely to:

  • Settle permanently
  • Support the local economy
  • Integrate into the community

Step 4: Submit Your Application to TEDC

Once ready, submit your completed application by email to TEDC.

  • Application fee: $100 (non-refundable)
  • Applications are reviewed monthly

The Steering Committee selects the highest-scoring candidates. If approved, you receive a community recommendation, valid for 6 months.

You then submit your Permanent Residence application to IRCC.
