Last week, Prince Edward Island (PEI) held its 4th Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of 2025.
On April 17, the province sent out 168 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to people already living and working in PEI, especially those in priority jobs or who are international graduates from select local schools.

Who Got Picked This Time?

To begin with, the PEI government gave top priority to those who:

  • Have been working in PEI for at least one year
  • Are employed in high-demand sectors

Even more, international student graduates from these three PEI institutions had an edge:

  • University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
  • Holland College
  • Collège de l’Île

In-Demand Jobs Right Now

At the moment, PEI is focusing on candidates working in these growing industries:

  • Healthcare
  • Trades (like electricians, mechanics, etc.)
  • Manufacturing

So, if you’re in one of these areas, you may have a better chance!

Labour Impact Category – Are You Eligible?

Next, let’s look at PEI’s Labour Impact Category, which is perfect for people helping the province’s economy grow.

This category has three streams:

  1. Skilled Worker
  2. Critical Worker
  3. International Graduate

To qualify, you must:

  • Be 21 to 59 years old
  • Have a permanent, full-time job offer (or at least a 2-year contract) from a PEI employer
  • Show you have enough money to settle in PEI
  • Meet language skills (CLB level 4 or higher)

Each stream has its own extra rules too, depending on your background.

Express Entry Pathway – How to Qualify

If you’re applying through PEI’s Express Entry stream, here’s what you’ll need:

  • A valid Express Entry profile on Canada’s IRCC site
  • Eligibility for one of these federal programs:
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

Special note: If you’re working in PEI with a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) from outside PEI, or on a spousal work permit (because your spouse studied outside PEI), then:

  • You must have worked at least 9 months for your PEI employer
  • Your work permit must be valid for 4+ more months when you apply

If you meet these, you (or your rep) can create a profile in the PEI Expression of Interest (EOI) system.

But keep in mind:

  • Your profile will stay active for only 6 months
  • You can only have one active profile at a time

How Many Have Been Invited So Far?

So far in 2025, PEI has already sent out 401 Invitations — all through the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories.
